Corisande Manor Hotel
I am very interested in wine, and have built up a cellar over many years. I also believe that there is a lot of snobbery about the subject, quite simply it is there to be enjoyed.
We won the Egon Ronay Cellar of the Year award in 1995 at our last hotel. Chadlington Manor (this is for the best restaurant wine list in the UK), and brought this cellar with us complete to Corisande. I have yet to find anywhere in Cornwall that can offer a comparable selection.
In 1999 our wine list was a finalist in the AA restaurant Wine Cellar of the year for the whole of Britain, maent that the AA regarded it as one of the top 20 wine cellars in the UK
There is everything from a 1915 Madeira to a 1998 Chilean Chardonnay, from a selection of scores of different vintages of première cru Bordeaux wines (Latour, Mouton Rothschild, etc.). There is a selection of Burgundies up to Domaine Romani Conti, champagnes and the best of the Australian to vintage Roederer or Dom Perigon. A wide selection of New World as well as Old, a serious selection of Australian reds, a wide choice of Californian or South African.
I have studied the subject in depth for many years, up to Master of Wine level (I failed it, but only just over 200 people have ever passed the exams in the last 40 years, and it is great achievement to have actually been allowed to sit the exam!). I understand about the different types of grape, the way the product is made, and have tried (most) of those that we sell.
We have several hundred on our list, it is a remarkable selection, but the restaurant critics have always agreed that our prices are fair, you do not have to buy anything expensive here in order to enjoy your meal.
And if you do not like grape juice, you can always settle for a beer or a glass of orange juice!
We are not just a wine hotel, we serve good food too
