Welcome to our home
David and Chris Grant would like to welcome you to Corisande Manor, a mansion built for an Austrian Count in Victorian times. It has a host of interesting original features, like the ceiling made from the timbers of a 300 year old Spanish schooner that sunk in the bay. Corisande is set right on the sea in Cornwall. The hotel and sheltered grounds face south and have wonderful views over the sea and sands below. It is a small personally run hotel with only 10 bedrooms.
It is not just near the sea, it is on the sea
Corisande is a comfortable hotel, quietly set in 3 acres of grounds, and fronts directly onto the sea, with private access to the Gannel sands. You can walk for miles along the beaches or relax in our garden. You can explore all of Cornwall by car (we are very central, and most places are within 40 minutes drive), or swim on numerous sandy beaches. You can be as energetic or lethargic as you please
Cornwall has been the home of many literary greats, Daphne du Maurier's novels, the Poldark Tales, and John Betjeman's poetry. As Betjeman said:-
Ah! seaweed smells from sandy coves
And thyme and must in whiffs
In-coming tide, Atlantic waves
Slapping the sunny cliffs,
Lark song and sea sounds in the air
And splendour, splendour everywhere
|Corisande enjoys a spectacular setting, commanding stunning
views over the Gannel Sands and the Crantock beaches
All bedrooms have private bath or shower, and toilet en-suite, colour TV, tea making facilities. The hotel is centrally heated and there is ample space for car parking
You can leave your car here and stroll along Crantock Beach, surf on Fistral Beach, explore the charming coves like Porth Joke, or the Kelseys (a National Trust area of open grazing that merges with the sand dunes of Holywell Bay
|You can always just stay here and watch the tide ebb and flow|
|I find it a very pleasant place to loiter||However, my wife does not think I should loiter - you can, you are on holiday.|
Corisande does not set out to offer "entertainment" or "sports facilities". We do not host wedding receptions. Instead we offer a high standard of food (AA Rosette) and wine (award winning wine cellar). We offer you a place to relax and unwind, somewhere to enjoy Cornwall all year round.
We do not claim to be the cheapest hotel in Cornwall, but we are certainly not the most expensive. We believe that we offer a warm welcome, a fine old building, a magnificent setting, fresh well cooked food and good value for money. If that is what you want, then book now!
